This is a really long post as I reviewed all the performances. Seriously, so long. Image heavy.
Opening: I love SBS. I love their stages and their
cameramen the best out of KBS and MBC. The talking head is a little
creepy, but at the same time I like the idea of it. As I watched the
head introduce the Color of K-POP teams, I got excited. Hope it doesn’t
disappoint. On the other hand, I know the main focus was on the Color of
K-POP, but I was expecting all the performing artists to be on stage
for the opening. Those four teams aren’t the only ones who are
performing.
Shinee:
Already from the start, I noticed a difference between KBS and SBS.
While both stages looked dark, it was easier to see the singers on SBS’s
dark stage than KBS’s. Wow, walking on the walls. That’s new, I
actually haven’t seen that before. That was a really good intro. They
also have much better clothes than yesterday. Poor Taemin. Yesterday his
pants ripped and today it looks like he’s having a little mic problem.
Aerial views of the stage are the stupidest things on the world. I
didn’t like the Taemin’s “미칠 거 같아” part (after Minho’s whisper, before
the chorus when they go up on the moving stage). Their performance was
really good and I could hear them clearly. A praise worthy first
performance. However, it wasn’t until I tried to get a decent screenshot
of all five of them together that all five of them were almost never in
the same shot and if they were it was disgustingly far.
Ailee:
I love her outfit here. The shorts are too short, but it’s k-pop,
surprise surprise. At least she has the thighs for it. The performance
itself was lovely. She’s really a good performer and doesn’t seem like a
rookie at all. She’s so confident, which makes me enjoy the performance
even more. I’m starting to get a little annoyed at the camera work.
B1A4:
Yay. No pink feather jackets. I realized through their performance
that the stage goes between parts of the audience. I like. I also like
how they didn’t begin at the main stage, but walked to their spot. This
is a boring song and someone looked like Sungmin from Super Junior.
Comparing this to yesterday’s performance though, today was much better.
I liked how they were interacting with the audience and the audience
said “good night” back to them. It was much easier to watch them today.
CL&Sung Si Kyung:
CL has so much things going around on her neck, but that’s her. Sung
Si Kyung, swoon. The end. For CL, when her first started I was a little
iffy about it. Although I love CL, I can’t say that I loved this
performance. There was such a difference with a singer and an
entertainer. I haven’t heard her sing this type of music before so it
was new and I trying something new is always good. It got better after
the halfway mark, but it wasn’t enough to make this performance
memorable.
Secret:
I hate Jieun’s outfit. That awkward pause in the song for them to
walk to the back of the stage was so unappealing. It surprised me
because I thought it would be a dance break which I found to be too
early in the performance, but no, they’re just walking. Okay. I wasn’t
impressed with today’s performance as I was yesterday. It was okay, was
bored though because they seemed bored.
Sistar:
I love their stage outfits. The dance was so random, but wow, Bora. This dance break should have been their performance because
Alone
was crap and at the end it was Bora alone. There’s this one part where
she runs to her spot. I wish she did something else that brought her to
that spot instead of just running to it. It could have been better of
course, but I wasn’t expecting the dance.
FT Island&CN Blue:
I love how the members of each group were mixed. Jonghyun looks so
happy again. I love all of their energy though and how they enjoyed the
stage. They really treated the stage as a special stage. I liked the way
the stage went up and down depending on which side’s turn it was. I
especially liked how it went from one song to the next without an
awkward gap during the transition. I was hoping at the last song they
would “cross the border” and mingle with the other side and they did! I
feel bad for the two drummers, haha. In the back, not being able to go
where they want.
GLAM&SeeU:
I don’t even know if I heard about them - GLAM and SeeU. Whoa, SeeU
scared me when she popped up. This vocaloid is getting most of my
attention. I’m assuming the stage has to be dark so SeeU can be seen
better, but it’s hard to see GLAM. This song is so horrible. GLAM’s
outfits don’t match with the song. I can’t stop staring at the
vocaloid’s hair. Oh dear. The vocaloid is multiplying. I honestly only
watched the whole performance because I was watching SeeU. I’m not into
vocaloids so that was creepy.
T-ara:
Oh. First impressions - I like the stage. Gross. I hate their fuzzy
looking jackets. The remix was horrible. Only the actual stage was
appealing. They’re so dead and uninterested. Look, you guys aren’t
singers, you’re idols. Performers. Entertainers. Entertain me.
Teen Top:
Someone has an animal on his head. Aw, I like how they’re starting
the performance closer to the audience in the back. They all have
interesting neck accessories. Haha, the dance was a little weird. Okay. I
liked nothing. Not the song. Not the stage. Bye.
Mystic White (Jiyoung, Bora, Sunhwa, Gayoon, Lizzy):
The intro when they’re in the water was so weird. Okay. I like the
bubble sounds. I actually thought since they were “white”, they would be
angels so I like the surprise with the mermaid theme. I like that they
walked to the front stage near the end. I like when singers do that. I
didn’t like the performance nor did I hate it. It was just something
nice for a special stage. Nothing I’d watch again.
EXO:
I’ll admit right now. I like EXO-M better than EXO-K. To be more
honest, I only like EXO-M, don’t know the ones in K. EXO-M is my current
bias right now, so I was giddy when it was EXO’s stage. They didn’t
transition from group to group like they usually do. What’s this? No
EXO-M solo time? No Chinese? Well, I suppose since it’s “K-POP”, it’s
understandable. I didn’t like how the song was cut at all. Oh. Oh my.
The Chinese members singing and rapping in Korean. Oh, ovaries, good bye
again. The performance got infinitely better when EXO-M came out. Wow,
this performance made me a little more interested in EXO-K. Damn, these
boys need more time for their performance. This performance. Lust.
Park Jimin:
I wonder where Yerin is. She might have been busy or sick, but this
just feels like because she was the winner in K-POP Star, it’s her solo
performance. I’m a fan of Jimin and think she has potential, but this
was a really bad performance. It’s like she practiced right before she
went on stage.
Baek Ah Yeon:
Also was not her best. She seems nervous too. Not a good performance at all from these K-POP Star people.
Lee Hi:
She seemed the most comfortable and confident out the three. It may
be because she’s performed on stage more than them because I’ve never
seen Jimin and Ahyeon perform after about their first three stages.
Park Jimin, Baek Ahyeon&Lee Hi:
HAHA. JYP playing the piano in the air. I didn’t even know he’d be on
the stage with them. This performance was cute. A small little
performance for the Top 3. It wasn’t the best thing in the world, but it
was a nice performance anyways.
f(x):
Whoa. The stage. I hate it. Absolutely hate it. The girls look good
though, except Sulli because I don’t like her hair. I can’t pay
attention to anything because of this crappy stage and special effects.
The performance itself was average, but this stage, seriously.
GaIn:
Wow, she looks great here. I like her outfit and her hair. There was
nothing special about this performance, but it didn’t matter for me
because I still loved it. I still prefer the original though.
2NE1:
Oh hey, Bom’s in pants. I hate her clothes though. Wow, that’s like
fancy ahjumma style. Oh, 2ne1 and their sense of style. Dara looks like
the wife of a rich caveman. CL reminds me of a chicken. I didn’t like
the short pause before the “bring it back” part. That was unnecessary.
These girls know how to play on stage. I liked the performance, but I
admit I zoned out a little for a few seconds.
Dramatic Blue (Yoseob, JoKwon, Woohyun, G.O.&Niel):
All of the little smurfs did really well with the image screen. Their
timing and positions were perfect. It was funny too. As for the
performance, they were all good too except Niel. I wouldn’t say it would
have been better if he wasn’t included because he was invisible to me
for the most part anyways. It was a decent performance for a special
stage.
Epik High, Dynamic Duo, Simon D:
I like the beginning where they’re just rapping outside. People
staring? Who cares. Imma rap. Freezing cold outside? I’ll make it hot. I
love how they’re rapping everywhere. They’re going crazy in the limo.
Drinking. This is how you enter the stage. Haha, they’re take on
Gangnam Style. I was worried it’d be the original. It’s not. Good. They should do a lot more performances together.
Miss A:
I don’t like Min’s top. All the girls looked good, but I wouldn’t
really know since I don’t recall the camera getting Fei at all. I also
didn’t like how the girls went down on the floor, but the camera was
slow to follow. In the middle, I started to get a little bored, but then
the dance happened so for me it was nicely placed. Got my attention
back.
MBLAQ:
Mir’s hair. Woah. Okay. Haha, what’s up with the song? I never
listened to this song before. “Ah ah ah ah ah”. Lol. I showed Yuanie the
performance and she said the Chinese symbol used in the back is used
when you get married. I don’t think this song is about marriage. Random
Chinese? That’s cool. Ninja theme. Okay. Sandara from 2NE1 was cute at
the edge of her seat watching her younger brother. Well, that was…no.
A-Pink:
I was never interested in them and haven’t heard any of their songs. I
know nothing. The first six seconds. Oh my. I twitched away from my
speakers. We went from “ah ah ah ah ah” to “oo oo oo”. Lovely. I can’t
do it. Skip.
G.NA:
The thought the performance was going to be good based on the first
ten seconds, but she looked really distracted. She put no effort into
anything. Not a good performance from her at all.
Infinite:
Ooh, orchestra. Me like. Ew, their jackets. Me no like. I really like
it when an orchestra is part of the performance so this was a plus. I
couldn’t clearly hear the guy with the pink hair. Although I’m not a fan
of this group, the performance was nice.
SM the Performance (U-Know, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Taemin, Minho, Kai, Lay):
Wow. I like the camera work in the beginning before the dances. The
transition from dancer to dancer, I love it. The audience won’t stop
screaming. I honestly never saw Minho as a dancer. Still don’t. The
camera is horrible during the group dance. I haven’t watched Dynamic
Black yet, but this should have just been Dynamic Black. The best
special stage so far.
4Minute:
What are they wearing? Their backup dancers’ clothes were better. As
usual, couldn’t hear Hyuna. Jihyun was really bad. I’d rather praise
Jihyun though because I could actually hear her. The performance was
‘meh’. Very boring.
2AM:
This was another performance for them. Nothing bad, nothing
outstanding. If you like 2AM, then you’ll like this performance. If you
don’t, it was still good.
FT Island:
I like how they’re in different boxes, but at the same time, I don’t
like it. Too much focus on Hongki. At least if they’re together on the
group, it’s easier to see the other members. I’m pretty sure the
majority of the people focus on Hongki with him being the singer and
being in the middle. The spotlight’s always on Hongki. They zoomed in on
the other members, but it’s so dark. Can’t see a thing. The performance
was okay as well. Hongki was definitely enjoying himself, but I wasn’t.
After School:
I haven’t paid attention to After School since Bekah left. The song
is crap. After School really changed. I didn’t like this performance at
all.
Boyfriend:
I know nothing of this group at all. Their outfits are so weird. I
didn’t want to watch this performance because I thought I’d hate it.
Surprisingly, they were okay. They were like Infinite for me. I don’t
know anything about them, but the performance was decent.
Dynamic Black (Kikwang, Jinwoon, Hoya, Lee Joon, L.Joe):
Joon is…crying tears of blood? Sweating blood? Okay, everyone letting
out red liquid from their bodies. I really like the intro. How it shows
the present and then rewinds to show what had happened to get to the
present. I hate when people smash guitars on stage and Jinwoon did it so
awkwardly. What I said about SM the Performance replacing Dynamic
Black. I take it all back. All of them were fantastic. I like the song
they sang too.
CN Blue:
Minhyuk drumming in air! I always love it when drummers get attention
too. CN Blue have really pleased me in these two days. Maybe I should
start paying attention to them again. Out of their
Gayo Daejun performances, this was their worst though. I still enjoyed watching it.
Hara, Kim Wan Sun, Taemin&Kim Won Jun:
I don’t think of Hara as a strong singer so I was expecting her to
fail in the song. I don’t know if it was help of the backtrack, but she
wasn’t as bad as I thought she’d be. Both of the performances were good,
but Taemin and Kim Won Jun’s was much better. The end when all four
perform together was lousy.
Son DamBi:
Ooh, I like her outfit. That dress or shirt is too short for her to
be wearing as she is. The performance was okay. It’s one that I can sit
through without thinking or being amazed.
B.A.P:
Camera, you don’t need to shake in the intro when they’re stomping. I’m happy they performed
Warrior
because it’s one of my favorite title songs of theirs. I’m not a huge
fan of their recent more cutesy songs. I did not appreciate them
focusing on Daehyun’s head during Jongup’s part with Zelo. They look
funny with those stage clothes. The performance was pretty good. I’m
sure it would have been even better if they were able to have a longer
performance. Still, I be pleased.
Park JinYoung:
Oh man. JYP. Your socks. The socks. Socks. I found it hilarious that
he’s his own little band. Haha, I liked this performance. One man show. I
couldn’t hear him that well in some parts, I don’t know if that’s just
me though.
BEAST:
Hyunseung, your hair. What happened? I love how they’re fooling
around in stage near the end. In the video I watched, it wasn’t focused
on Beast on the end. The camera should at least be focused on them at
that time. It’s their performance. I enjoyed this performance though. Me
like.
Kara:
This was decent enough for an year end special. The dance break from
their helpful backup dancers was pointless. Except year end performances
are all about remixes and dance breaks. An average performance.
Big Bang:
Wow. Fantastic, baby. Big Bang never disappoints me in these
types of stages. They always bring life to a dull show or add more
flare to a good show. Taeyang’s glasses are a no though. Daesung,
something has happened to your hair. Everything was so
WOW. FANTASTIC, BABY. All you need to concern yourself with. The end.
Dazzling Red (Nicole, Hyorin, Hyosung, Hyuna, NaNa):
Just another special stage. Nothing bad. Nothing wow. It’s
forgettable for me. Especially after I was spazzing about Big Bang. This
was nothing.
Super Junior:
Yesung’s hat, haha. This was a really bad performance. They look so
not into it. It looks like if they could, they wouldn’t be there
performing. I don’t like the song either. Oh yes, the laser show. That
was terrible. This performance just wasn’t their best or their good.
DBSK/TVXQ:
Well that’s new. Going inside the image boxes instead of coming out
of them. Yay, their clothes are complete in this performance. I was more
into today’s performance than yesterday’s. I wasn’t watching this
performance to find flaws or to find good points. I just watched it to
enjoy and it was enjoyable.
Ending: Everyone on stage this time. Good. I was going to have my face meet my palm if it was just the Color of K-pop groups.
The MCs for the night:
Overall: SBS was disgustingly terrible. They only
had aesthetically pleasing stages and not even for all the performances.
The camera work made me want to rip my hair. I couldn’t get a good
screenshot of all the group members up close for any of them. Everything
was so choppy and shot from afar. The aerial shots are seriously the
worst things ever. Terrible. Horrible. Burn. I liked how detail they
were by keeping with their “color” theme by having colored font. In the
opening I said how much I love SBS. I forgot how much they fail in Gayo
Daejuns.
The performances were much better than yesterday. I loved the special
stages and there were more performers. I was definitely more pleased
with today’s performances. I was giddy because of a few performances as
well. Some of them I shall watch many times. Everything wasn’t perfect
though. Some of the performances were painfully bad. In short, I was
still disappointed but a few performances made up for it.
