First Impression: SPEED "Sad Promise" MV (Dance ver.)

I decided to watch the dance version after seeing the drama version of the mv. Cass loved the storyline one and you can read her review here.

I didn’t know anything about SPEED before their debut. I actually thought they were rookies, but turns out they are a subgroup of Co-ed. Never payed attention to them so to me, they were brand new.

The mv:

image

It started off with a VERY close up of Kang Min Kyung (member of Davichi), and I didn’t liked it at all. She is very pretty but she looks ghostly to me right now.

image

Ahh I see the boys! Woah I didn’t know there was so many of them. Ugh. More names. I like how it’s tilted, but I don’t like the background at all. That kid scares me (left corner in the back), I keep staring at him. And Kang Min Kyung’s face needs to stop flashing at me.

image

I like how there’s clips of the drama version in here, aww they are so cute. Me gusta.
image

I got freaked out, it’s not enough that her face is flashed every 10 seconds. We gotta add her to the background too. Gawd this mv can be creepy.
image

This just got creepier and scarier. Flashes of her face is not enough. Moar. Two pictures of her in the background isn’t enough either! Gotta have more, more, and MORE! I can’t even focus on the boys.
image

Lol this guy, he is like the star of the video besides Kang Min Kyung. I mean he is the only one rapping throughout, he is given the most face time too. Now he gets to pose and stand in the middle. The rest are like backup dancers, I don’t even remember their faces.

Overall: Hate the dance version mv. Kang Min Kyung’s face kept flashing and appearing everywhere. I couldn’t really see the dance because there was just so much stuff going on. I wish I got to see the member’s face for more than two seconds. I can’t remember anyone besides the rapper and a blonde dude with something on his head. Disappointed with this version, but I do like the song.

First Impression: SPEED's "That's My Fault" MV (Drama Ver.)

image
Before the MV: If it wasn’t for Yuanie (she reviewed the Dance Version), I would never have watched this MV. I heard the name SPEED before but knew nothing about them. Before I watched it, I told Yuanie I was most definitely not going to waste 13 minutes watching the video. I was just going to skim to find the scene where the guy got shot. I ended up watching the MV four times.

The MV:
image
I was so confused within the first 30 seconds. I didn’t know which one of these guys was the main. I didn’t know who the camera wanted me to focus on. When the second woman entered, I thought the two girls hated each other. I should just stop guessing. I’m horrible. Moving on. My happiness level decreased knowing the guys were already dead before the start of the MV.

image
Be a man! You’re going to cower like that after throwing punches because he raised his fist?! No. I laughed at you. These punches looked really fake. Typical. When the other gang leader came out, I did pay attention more. Half because I thought this was the scene Yuanie mentioned and half because hello there.

image
I was excited that he ran after her. But excuse me, that is not how you make a woman feel safe. Walking behind her like that with eyes that say she’ll be perfect for my dinner tonight. I don’t think so.

image
This pulled out a tiny aw from me. She got hurt, he wraps her wound. Aw. Their feelings are blossoming. Aw.

image
Of course she would the younger sister of the leader of the rival gang. I’d be surprised if she had no connection to him. The other guy could care less. He just met a beautiful woman that’s he wants to woo. His whoo-hoo as he was leaving was adorable. Again, aw. They don’t know what’s going to happen! No! Sad.

image
Aw. He went in to save a girl. Now that’s a man! The more I say aw the more pieces my heart’s going to shatter in to at the end.

image
How cute! He’s stacking matches while waiting for his date. He got surprised when he saw her. Aw! They’re too adorable. Happy ending. Want. They’re so shy. He’s the leader of a gang and he’s shy. Pets.

image
Aw! He got captured while saving the girl. No! I don’t want you to be there. Stop. No. Run away. Sad face.

Jung Sisters vs. Fanning Sisters

image
The issue: The pictures on the right of the Jessica and Krystal (Jung Sisters) for jewelry brand STONEHENGE closely resembles the pictures on the left of Dakota and Elle (Fanning Sisters). Read more about it here.

I do think they’re both beautiful pictures, but it’s a little disappointing that they’re almost exact copies. I can’t help but think there was no originality and creativity involved with the Jung sisters’. This is more than a model having the same pose as another model. Could be a coincidence though.

Jung Sisters vs. Fanning Sisters: In my opinion, Dakota and Elle was exceptional. They’re on a different level. In the top picture, I love how Dakota is looking at Elle. Her stare is completely different compared to Jessica’s. Everything looks so calculated for Jessica. Let me place my hand like so and hover over your lips like so. Dakota and Elle makes me wonder where they’re going or why she’s putting that lipstick on her. I don’t wonder any of that from the Jung Sisters. Krystal looks dead. Jessica could be putting lipstick on a mannequin and I wouldn’t know the difference.

In the bottom picture, it seemed like Elle actually whispered something to Dakota. When I saw Jessica and Krystal’s picture, I honestly thought that must be uncomfortable if they weren’t sisters. A face that close while waiting for a picture. No. Everything is again calculated. Calculated in a way that makes them think they look prettier. It’s painfully obviously it’s a photo shoot. Jessica’s looking directly into the camera. That is so awkward. The Fanning Sisters look as if they were caught in the moment. It’s beautiful.

First Impression: Super Junior-M's "BREAK DOWN"

image
First things first. I loved Super Junior-M when Hangeng was still with them. After he left, it wasn’t the same for me. I’m not that loyal to them. Moving on.

The MV set is so bright and white with the lights. Siwon caught my attention immediately. Sir, you seem to have a fancy dead animal on your head.
image
His bangs are horrible too. What is that. Speaking of him. He wasn’t in the dancing parts. I wonder where he was.

image
I like Eunhyuk, but that hair. No. The color. Crayon-colored hair? In my entire career of coloring, I have never come across a crayon of that color.

image
Is that Ryeowook in the back? Why just him? He scared me. Just randomly standing there. Was it essential that he stand back there like a creep?

image
There’s Ryeowook again. He’s sitting this time. Must have been tired of standing for Eunhyuk’s part.

image
Oh man. I thought Zhoumi was Leeteuk for a second. It took me a moment to remember it’s Zhoumi. I always thought he looked more like Eunhyuk. Now he looks like Leeteuk.

There’s this one part in their dance where they lift their leg and then spin. Something like that.

image
It makes me laugh. It’s like their leg is stuck but they have to keep dancing anyways.

image
I love this random dark room. It’s completely opposite of the bright hospital room. That’s not the reason I love this room. It’s where they’re emo and act cool. They mind their own business but sing and pose when the camera comes at them. I would love to see this. A handful of guys in a small dark room walking and sitting as if in great depressing thoughts then coming alive to pose in front of a camera.

image
That hair. No thank you. Donghae that is not for you.

image
They’re so polite. Except “evil maknae” Kyuhyun. Who are they bowing to? So respectful. Look at those 90 degree bows.

image
Enter the dramatic pillow feathers. Or confetti. I’m going to stick with pillow feathers. PILLOW FIGHT! Now I’m going to think the other members are having a pillow fight around the member currently posing.

The song: The start of the song was decent enough to keep my attention. As soon as it hit the chorus. Good bye. I hate the chorus. It’s catchy, yes. All I can remember is BREAK DOWN! Still hate it. Everything besides the chorus was okay. I probably be willing to listen to the song again if the chorus went away. The sound before the chorus reminds me of a fart. Don’t know why. Just does.

Overall: The MV was simple. The camera gave adequate time for each shot. I didn’t have to concentrate so hard in watching the MV. Easier to listen to the song. The song was meh. It would have been better if the chorus changed. So upsetting. Chorus. Just the chorus. Not a strong comeback considering how long the fans waited.

First Impression: Youai's "I Got A Boy"

image
“Girls bring the boys out!”
“I got a boy.”
“You too? I got a boy!”

What timing for this rookie singer. To come out with her song just days after SNSD’s I Got A Boy. Not only does the title of her song scream SNSD, the pink color is dripping with SNSD. The spelling of her name, Youai, in Korean reminds me of IU’s name in Korean too. 유아이 (Youai). 아이유 (IU).

On to the song. It’s like J-pop. Anime style. Perfect for karaoke.

Forget the song though. Her voice. Oh my. Something terrible is going on. Nail on chalkboard. Knife on glass bottle. Squealing pig. Worse than all that.

So squeaky. Her voice is weak and unstable. Squeaky. Her high notes. Squeaky. My ears. Squeaky. Never again. Please. Squeaky. No.

*Invades Cass' post* “Youai’s song has an upbeat vibe with disco elements. The song will showcase her sexiness and is expected to impress with great live performances.” allkpop’s best troll yet.

First Impression: SNSD (Girls' Generation)

image

Quick Bio: A nine-member girl group debuted in 2007 under SM Entertainment.

Day 1: I first heard about them in 2008 through my friend who showed me Kissing You. Unsurprisingly, I couldn’t tell who any of them were. My friend spent the longest time putting names to their faces and none of them stuck in my head. They looked like an army of girls and I thought most of the were the same girl with different hairstyles. I thought Taeyeon and Jessica were the same person.
image

My friend then showed me Into the New World for more practice in recognizing them. I did make progress. I remembered Seohyun because she looked like a monkey to me.
image

In the end, my friend gave me the MV of Girls’ Generation to study since they were wearing sweaters with their names on them. I’ll tell you now. It didn’t work. Why? I was completely not interested after my first five minutes being introduced to SNSD.
image

First impressions on those who stood out: The only impressions worth mentioning are on Yoona, Yuri, Hyoyeon and Sooyoung. I saw Yoona on Manwon Happiness and I thought she would be an incredible singer. She was the one doing the challenge, she was complimented on her looks, the PD commented on her commercial experience and for some reason I just figured she’d be a impressive singer. I heard her sing. Weak and unstable voice. Shocked and disappointed. Now I know. A good singer? Uh, no.
image

My first impression of Yuri was simple. I saw her in Super Junior’s Attack on the Pin-Up Boys dancing with Heechul. I thought she was way to skinny. Too skinny. No curves. No. I also thought she was Yoona and Seohyun. Those three confused me as hell. Seohyun and Sunny too.
image

I had the same impression for both Hyoyeon and Sooyoung. Half a line. Why are they in the group. So sad. I know I shouldn’t add this in, but of course I will. I figured they didn’t have any lines and were always in the back because they couldn’t sing and they weren’t as aesthetically pleasing to the eye compared to the others.
image
image

Now: My opinions on some of the members have changed throughout the years. Some for the better, some for the worse. Some didn’t change. I can tell them apart now. Their songs are catchy and forces into my brain. None of their songs get stuck in my head because they’re good. SNSD is near impossible to forget and erase not because they’re impressive, but because they’ve made a name for themselves and they’re everywhere in kpop.

More Rant: Block B Suing Stardom

image

I know the news was just released today, but I have to get it out of my system or I’ll end up with depression. Block B, a group that I like, not as much as EXO M or SHINee but I do like them. I wasn’t really a fan in the beginning but after the release of “Blockbuster” I decided I like them. They have a style that’s not seen in most boy groups and many members are talented, not just a few.

Wow, I was so surprised to read that they haven’t been paid for a over a year! And the guy just ran off/disappeared with lots of money. OMG poor babies! Why are they treated like this? Some other totally talentless groups don’t even receive this treatment. It’s great that they are standing up for themselves though, I support totally that.

I don’t think it’s going to be DBSK all over again, because the members are probably together on this. All we BBCs can do is keep supporting and loving them. Going to keep checking for new updates like crazy, while trying not to go crazy. Fighting Block B!
