Rant: SNSD mv/Oh Yeon Seo-Lee Joon Couple

image

So I heard SM is going to re-lease “I Got A Boy” mv due to that offensive hat. LOL woah that’s so stupid. Honestly they could of saved all that trouble by not having the girls wear the hats in the first place.

This just reminds me of how K-pop is constantly trying to become “American”. I use to love k-pop because most of the songs weren’t about sex, drugs, partying and getting wasted. Now it’s changing and we have meaningless songs that are just catchy. Then we see that, Welcome Mother Fuckers on a hat. Woah I do love being called a mother fucker, harharh no. Even if it’s edited out in the mv I still know what it says, nice try SM.

I don’t think SNSD is to blame, but honestly I am disappointed. In my head SNSD is the cutesy group that are just overly cute it makes you sick. Well that image is certainly cracked.

image

First, I like to congratulate Oh Yeon Seo on her new relationship. I know there’s the whole issue of her being on “We Got Married” with Lee Joon, but sometime’s love just happens out of nowhere.

I do pity Lee Joon, but I don’t blame Oh Yeon Seo. I never liked the show “We Got Married”, I mean you know everything is fake and scripted so they are probably NOT going to end up together. I would like to fangirl over how cute a REAL couple is instead of a fake one. The only couple I approve of was Jo Kwon and GaIn. So all the fans probably feel stupid now because their relationship is smack in the face fake. Reality hurts.

Also I pity Oh Yeon Seo too, she just gained bunch of anti-fans and she barely started her career. From what I read in the comments hardly anyone has congratulated or seem to be happy for her new relationship. Everyone is just going crazy over the FAKE relationship and ignoring the REAL one, in my opinion “We Got Married” should just end already.

Korean Rant: Mandatory Military Service

image

There needs to be an end to these ridiculous privileges given to Korean celebrities who are serving in their mandatory military service.

Why does it matter which celebrity is going to the military when? Why is it just another opportunity for attention-seeking celebrities to gain more attention?

What does it matter how they’re adjusting to their new military life? What does it matter what awards they’ve won? I’d rather learn about my own family’s well-being.

Why are they able to take more leaves than the those who aren’t celebrities? Why are there no consequences? A few articles of officials looking into it? Okay. That’s going to do a whole lot. These privileges should end after they look into it. Ha. Sure.

I know there are incidents where “normal” male Koreans try to evade their military service. I know. But these are people in the public eye who already have different privileges. They don’t need more.
Those who go and come back from the military (the real military - not desk job military) really have my respect in this. There are some who have finished their military service when I didn’t even know they left.

It’s just incredibly stupid. Ranting doesn’t even make me feel better.

First Impression - Roh Ji Hoon

First thought: Woah you are good looking. Hellooooooooooooo there Mr.

I learned about him through allkpop, and I thought he was good looking and seemed promising. A male soloist from Cube? That's fresh, all I've seen lately is more and more groups debuting. Then his first song "Punishment" was released.

I don't know if I like seeing him tied up in a chair like that, leads us into thinking stuff *cough*. Anyways I watched the mv and the song was catchy. I'm just going to combine the review for his mv here, since it's his first one so it fits the first impression theme.

This part confused me a lot, it seems like they just saw each other on the street and he decides to follow her cause she's hot. Okay, stalker, pervert. Just follow any women you like.

Then came that belt dance....I face palmed. I seriously don't like watching a guy giving himself wedgies, even if he is as good looking as Roh Ji Hoon. I was getting uncomfortable watching 7 guys moving their pants up and down. I worried for his pants too, I was waiting for it to fall off during the live perf in MBC gayo daejun lol. Did this get my attention? Yush, but now I shall remember him more for his wedgies.

Lol that doesn't look like a punishment to me.

I found the kiss totally unnecessary, his fans are mostly female. Females don't like watching the guy they like kiss another female. Yeah, way to go Cube. This is such a good way to promote him. That kind of killed my interest for him somewhat, if I want to fangirl over a guy I prefer him to not have any female contact. Not that it's going to happen but let me live in my dream.

I listened to rest of his album, "The Next Big Thing" and I like most of the songs but nothing really stood out. They were just good, no wow-factor but I can listen to it more than once.

Conclusion: I don't like the sexy concept he went with, so I was disappointed honestly. I am willing to give him a second chance when he has a comeback. He is a good performer and he has the looks. I loved seeing him with Ailee at the MBC gayo daejun where he almost (?) kissed her, but then I remembered the belt dance and that killed everything. I do like the songs and his voice, so I am looking forward to his new releases and please, no more belts.

Invades Yuanie’s post. I wonder what AJ (Kikwang from B2ST) thinks when he sees the success Roh Ji Hoon is gaining.

First Impression: SNSD's "Dancing Queen" MV

image
Before we begin: I was curious as to why the phone went back to 2008 and why their hair color at the start of the song was not current. They made the MV during Gee, apparently.

Now we begin: Just like Gee, Tiffany and Jessica start with their English. They’re even wearing Gee type clothes. You could at least change the clothing style.

image

image
What is with that dance. Some kind of bbuing bbuing cat dance. Reminds me of T-ARA, minus the gigantic clown paws. Their face expression. It’s so disgustingly cute. Bbuing bbuing everyone to death why don’t you. It’s not a compliment.

Seriously, they couldn’t get new clothes for this song? It just seems so lazy. It also seems like just in case you forgot, we’re the ones who sang Gee. Gee. The song that made us popular. Don’t forget.

image
If I saw that picture without knowing it’s from Dancing Queen, I would assume it’s from Gee. Even though I know it’s from Dancing Queen, all I see is Gee.

The same five people get solo camera time. It may not be true. Didn’t count. What matters is that’s what it seems. SNSD and the backup dancers.

I’d rather listen to the original song. Even Lee Hi was better. I’ve read what Sones said about Lee Hi in SNSD’s defense, so that sentence means a lot to some of you Sones.

It’s very forgettable and I want to forget it. I mentioned in my First Impression: SNSD’s I Got A Boy MVFirst Impression: SNSD's I Got A Boy MV post that their songs sneak into my brain, but not this one. Not everything SNSD does is gold.

Yuanie specifically told me to include that she hates this song too.

First Impression: SNSD's "I Got A Boy" MV

image
Before the song: The beginning screamed so much of Oh! it made me not want to listen. Oh! was a repulsive song. I thought I Got A Boy would be just as horrendous. The beginning made me laugh. It’s so stupid. Who looks through a peephole like that and all at once with eight other people? Definitely just trying to look cute.
image

During the song: They get prettier after every MV. The beginning with Sooyoung and Yuri rapping really impressed me. It got my attention at least. I even though that the song wouldn’t be half bad.

image
The first thing I looked at was their clothes and hair. I looked at Hyoyeon first because she seems to get clothes from a dumpster and stylists who want to kill her hair. She looked normal. Yay. Everyone else looked good with their clothes and hair. Except for Sunny. That wig. No
image

As soon as the rap was over and it changed to this (above), I instantly hated it. I’ll say this right now about their clothes. Even though it’s not my fault that I’m thinking this. It’s all the Sones and Blackjacks. SNSD looks like they were trying to be 2NE1 but they only knew how to be SNSD.
The dance is different from their usual style. It’s more…powerful I could say.

image

Is that how the chorus is going to start every time? With Tiffany stopping the music and to a dubstep? Because that was definitely a no. I was so confused.

image

Whoa. What’s up with the wigs. That’s hideous. It’s funny because it’s ridiculous. All I can do is laugh.
A lot of the girls look so awkward dancing. They only look good dancing to their simple choreography. The dance is “powerful” but it’s still so cutesy feeling.
I hate how the chorus starts. This song feels like two or three songs edited together into one song. Such a clash.

Overall: The beginning rap was the best part. The song was harsh because it really felt horribly put together. I had to strain to see Hyoyeon as usual. The ones who always get the most screen time got the most screen time again in this MV. Everyone except Sunny looked fantastic. No one in particular stood out because their look would change depending on their hair. It’s easy to see who SM sees as beautiful based on their clothes and hair. The thing about SNSD is that no matter how much I hate their song in the beginning, it’ll creep inside my brain and start playing in my head. Even though it’ll probably do that for this song, the song was not enjoyable or appealing. The MV was okay. It smelled of SNSD.

End of the Year Special: MBC Gayo Daejun 2012

This is a really long post as I reviewed all the performances. Image heavy

First Impression: SNSD "I Got A Boy" mv

First thought: Finally released, I been waiting for awhile.

Even though I am not a big fan of SNSD I still pay attention to some of their new releases. I actually really like their style in this comeback, everyone looks great besides Sunny. I don't know why I can't like her short weird color hair. It's just not for me. The beginning was typical SNSD, all the girls together looking cutesy. I don't know about the song though, first 2 min I couldn't remember anything they were singing/rapping. However the rapping was good.

Also this guy in the mv, I never got to see his face. Okay the mv is about SNSD but still the guy was featured so at least let me see him! Poor thing, just some guy. The song is about how great the boy is but no, all I get is a body with hair on top.

2 min into the mv and I didn't think the song was catchy, then I heard the dubstep that reminded me so much of "Crayon" and the chorus. I gotta say it's catchy. I don't like the lyrics that much but it can get stuck in your head for a little bit. Also I like how there's a close up of each member, so they all got their fair share of screen time. Sometimes some members are just forgotten, like there's 3 girls that I always mix up too.

If I HAD to pick a bias in SNSD (not that I really love any of them) it's Yoona. I always liked her better than the others, probably because the first time I saw her was in a drama and thought she was an actress. I have to say she looks great in this comeback, and Tiffany. Those two stood out for me in the mv. Also Yoona rapped, does she rap? Maybe because I don't pay too much attention but I thought she sang. That was cute.

I hate those wigs. I winced when I saw it. Those are so heck no. It's orange, and all the girls wear the same wig. Why? Just when I think I can't really pick on the mv this comes up. Woah I don't find that cute at all. The outfit doesn't help either. They look like ailens with orange hair. No, they better not wear those in a live perf.

Conclusion: The song seems choppy to me. After watching the mv I didn't remember anything besides what I have heard in the teaser. The mv was ruined by the orange wigs. I guess this is a good comeback, haven't payed this much attention to SNSD since..."Run Devil Run" days. I thought their debut in US was...sad. This concept is actually more acceptable to me, I like fun styles more than sexy or cute. Lyrics...meh. Not much meaning to them but easy to remember. Way to start the year SNSD, I think their fans will be really happy.
