Drama Rant- Taiwanese Dramas

Taiwanese dramas, I watched these first before I abandoned it completely and went with Korean dramas. That is a poster of the Taiwanese drama "Playful Kiss", which came out before the Korean version "Mischievious Kiss". I loved this drama, I even watched "Playful Kiss 2". As much as some of the scenes were totally fake and stupid, this is like a must watch. The actress Ariel Lin, she seemed really stupid and sometimes I hated her in there. The storyline kept me watching though, it wasn't boring at all.

I watched "Smiling Pasta" because I saw one episodes on TV once and I looked it up. It was a very cute drama, I actually like it despite how unbelieveable it was. This superstar falling in love with a girl that's cursed to break up with her boyfriends after they dated for 3 months. It was a very typical Taiwanese dramas with the innocent girl and "mean" guy. I hated the main girl's red hair, I thought it was so fake and ugly and just blah. I liked it though, another one of the few Taiwanese dramas I approve.

"Romantic Princess", a ordinary girl finds herself to be a rich heirness and now 4 guys are trying to win her heart. Started it because I love the actress but abandoned it because I hate the storyline again. These four guys, started out wanting to win her heart for the money. Like no, I don't like that at all. Everything went downhill after like episode 3, only remembered it for the eyecandies.

I know "Fate To Love You" was super popular when it was airing and got like really good ratings. However, I hate the storyline and never watched it. From what I remember they guy slept with the girl while he was drunk thinking she was his gf and she ends up preggo. Somehow they come to love each other and blah blah blah. First I hate storylines like that, and from the first few episodes I saw the guy treated her...in a mean way. So, I hate the guy and the story and everything was just no.

Then I remember watching "Hi, My Sweetheart". It was hilarious, as much as I thought it was stupid I kept watching. This was short too, I think there's 12 episodes? The actress, Ranie Yang, she is so popular in Taiwan I see her everywhere. I didn't like her at all because I started a few dramas with her in it and hated the characters she played. This was actually a good change and I went from hating her to accepting her. I do recommend watching this one though, a very sweet drama lol.

After watching Ranie Yang in the previous drama I mentioned, I found this one. "Miss No Good" was no good to me. The main girl has these natural curls (obviously a wig) and I forgot but I think she hated it. Then the main guy is a hair stylist and like straightens it for her. Anyways, I don't remember much because I skipped around and ended up quiting. The storyline was again stupid and the hair transformations were just fake and unbelieveable.

This drama, "Next Stop, Happines" is one of the best and most touching dramas I ever watched in my life. I wasn't expecting much from it because it's Taiwanese but omg this is a must watch. The storyline and everything was just perfect. I remember crying so much because their love was just so sad (Happy ending though so don't worry). I don't know what to say because there are so many things in there that touched me. I seriously got so depressed and recommended it to all my friends. Definitely must watch, it's a more serious drama compared to the other Taiwanese dramas. I might watch it again lol.

What I notice in lots of Taiwanese dramas is that the guy is always such a jerk in the beginning. Sometimes I just end up hating the main guy and quit because I couldn't stand seeing him with the main girl. The comedy and storyline in Taiwanese ones are mostly too far-stretched, over the top, and just ends up really dumb. Also they actors hardly change, I just see the same ones over and over again until I'm sick of them. I watched more dramas than what I have mentioned above, but those popped up in my head while writing this post.

Conclusion: I hardly watch Taiwanese dramas anymore because it's always the same actors and the storylines just makes me face palm. However once in awhile they do have a drama that's like gold. If something looks good I'll try it, but I don't have high expectations. They do have more comedy relief than Korean dramas though, but the humor has gotten perverted lol. Haven't payed attention to them since "Next Stop, Happiness" since there's so many new Korean dramas. If you are a fan of Korean dramas just stick with it because you will probably not like Taiwanese dramas.
